Th Sugar Mill Restaurant

Fresh and local are the tenets of the Sugar Mill Restaurant in Apple Bay, where the menu changes nightly to feature the best ingredients. Dinner is served by candlelight in the restored great house of the 370-year-old sugar plantation. The setting has been awarded the distinction of being named one of the World's Most Romantic Restaurants by Concierge.com. A garden surrounds the open stone walls of the restaurant and fixtures from the old distillery remain, such as a copper cauldron which has been incorporated into a waterfall.
Reservations are required for one of the three nightly seatings at 7pm, 7:30pm and 8pm. A la carte menu options include soups and appetizers, and bread is baked fresh on site, served with a famous dipping oil of sundried tomatoes and olive oil. Dishes are designed daily by Chef Matthew Webb whose creative menu options include plantain stuffed chicken, salmon wrapped in leeks, and wild mushroom empanadas. Fish and seafood offerings change with the catch of the day, and desserts are made daily by the in-house pastry chef.
Cuisine can be described as Caribbean continental fine dining, but operations manager Sharon Chambers insists that the menu at the Sugar Mill is truly the restaurant's own style. Owners of the Sugar Mill, Jeff and Jinx Morgan, are also columnists for renowned food magazine Bon Appétit, and so their restaurant's offerings are a top priority.
Breakfast is served on the terrace from 8 to 10am, and Caribbean lunch is served at beachfront Islands restaurant from noon until 2pm. The Sugar Mill will be closing at the end of July and reopening October 1.
